We've significantly enhanced the Driver Events functionality by introducing new, granular event types. This update gives dispatchers and driver managers a more precise and accurate way to plan around a driver's scheduled time off and commitments.

We've significantly enhanced the Driver Events functionality by introducing new, granular event types. This update gives dispatchers and driver managers a more precise and accurate way to plan around a driver's scheduled time off and commitments.

Why is it important?

Previously, our limited event types (Vacation, Restart, Other) forced users to rely on notes or generic categories, leading to incomplete data.

  • Improved Accuracy: Better planning around specific driver needs.
  • AI (Dispatch Assist) Readiness: Provides high-quality, structured data that the optimization model uses to avoid recommending assignments that violate a driver's time off the different event type. Each event will be classified as either a Hard Constraint (mandatory, cannot be violated) or a Soft Constraint (preference-based, can be overridden) to be fed into the Dispatch Assist Optimizer.

How to Use It

The updated event options are available in both Dispatch Planners and on the Driver Profile page. When creating a new event, you will now see the full list of options, allowing you to quickly and accurately block out a driver's calendar.

New Event Types & Optimization Constraints

Event Type

Definition and Use Case

Vacation

Scheduled Paid Time Off.

Sick or Emergency

Urgent, unplanned time off due to illness or medical appointment.

Restart

Mandatory 34-hour HOS reset period. Used to confirm compliance.

Hometime

Scheduled home visit or specific personal event (e.g., graduation).

Other

A catch-all for miscellaneous, non-prohibitive events.
